Phoenix Barb

Phoenix Barb is a popular companion fish for Mahseer. It usually begins to develop colour after growing beyond 20cm. Its cheeks become bright red, with the colour extending towards the middle of its body. The larger it grows, the more impressive it looks. Based on my own experience, it is also a true “food lover”. It has a large appetite, competes actively for food and, of course, produces one of the highest amounts of waste in the tank. It is also said that this fish tastes very good when prepared as sashimi.
